At the Terminal
Match the five terminals to the station and city
- City Cruise Terminal: berth 101, Western Docks, SO15 1HJ; ABP says about 15 minutes from Southampton Central.
- Horizon Cruise Terminal: berth 102, Western Docks, SO15 1AW; about 15 minutes from Central.
- Mayflower Cruise Terminal: berth 106, Western Docks, SO15 1HJ; ABP’s terminal page says 25–30 minutes.
- Ocean Cruise Terminal: berths 46/47, Eastern Docks, SO14 3QN; ABP’s general guidance says about 30 minutes.
- QEII Cruise Terminal: berths 38/39, Eastern Docks, SO14 3GG; ABP recommends a taxi from Central.
These are public terminal references, not gangway measurements. With luggage, use the taxi ranks on either side of Southampton Central and give the terminal name, berth and postcode. City/Horizon are the easiest walking candidates; never walk freight roads or improvise between dock gates.

Getting There
Taxi cost and payment
Southampton hackney carriages are metered. From 17 March 2026, the daytime meter starts at £3.20 for up to four passengers and then increases by distance; a taxi hired from a marshalled cruise-terminal rank adds £2 per vehicle. Waiting, nights, Sundays/holidays and five-to-eight passengers cost more.
Using that tariff and typical station–terminal distances, plan roughly £8–£15 in daytime for up to four, subject to the exact terminal, route and waiting. This is a calculated planning range, not a fixed quote. Private-hire/app prices are not council-regulated; agree the basis before travel. Terminal pickup ranks may be marshalled on busy ship days.

- Walk from the airport terminal to adjacent Southampton Airport Parkway.
- Take a train whose stop list includes Southampton Central; alight there.
- Use the station taxi rank to the exact cruise terminal, or use the terminal-specific walk above.
Ship → airport
- Taxi/walk to Southampton Central.
- Take a train showing Southampton Airport Parkway in its stop list.
- Alight Parkway and follow airport-terminal signs.
The rail ride is commonly about 7–10 minutes; use the dated SWR planner for fare/platform. Allow 30–60 minutes terminal–airport including the port leg, a normal wait and rail ride, before airline check-in/security. A direct taxi avoids handling; ABP’s port-wide road reference is about 15 minutes, but traffic and the exact terminal change it.
Getting There
U1 airport bus: budget route, not terminal-door service
Airport → port area
At Southampton Airport/Airport Parkway, board U1C toward NOCS and alight at Southampton, Westquay [BP]. From Westquay, walk only when the saved route to City/Horizon or the chosen terminal is suitable; otherwise take a taxi to the exact terminal.
Port area → airport
Reach Southampton, Westquay [BR], then board U1A toward Airport/Eastleigh and alight at Airport Parkway Station. Follow signs to the terminal.
Unilink’s dated fare-change notice sets the Southampton-zone adult single at £2.70 from 30 August 2026, and its current ticket table also shows £2.70. Its airport explainer still displays the previous £2.60 amount, so allow £2.70 and confirm the price shown when buying. Buy in the app or tap on and off with the same contactless bank card. Allow 45–90 minutes airport–ship including the bus, normal wait and terminal-dependent walk/taxi. The older instruction to use Platform Road as a universal cruise stop is not used.

Your Situation
London, Heathrow and Gatwick arrival chains
- London Waterloo: take a direct SWR train to Southampton Central when shown, then taxi/walk to the exact terminal. Published trips are commonly around 1 hour 20–1 hour 40; book the dated train.
- Heathrow: use a booked National Express coach to Southampton Coach Station when shown, then taxi to the terminal. A London rail connection can require cross-city handling and is not automatically easier.
- Gatwick: use the National Rail planner for the dated direct or one-change itinerary to Southampton Central, then taxi/walk.
For the reverse journey, reach Southampton Central/Coach Station first and follow the booked service’s destination and terminal. Allow disruption margin beyond the published ride and protect flight check-in time. Component fares are not complete ship-to-airport costs; add the port taxi/walk and any reservation fee.
Accessibility
Return to ship, luggage and accessibility
- From Central: taxi to the named terminal, or use only the matching City/Horizon/Mayflower/Ocean walking route.
- From the airport: rail to Central plus terminal taxi/walk, or U1C to Westquay [BP] plus the terminal first mile.
- From the city: return to the exact dock gate/terminal, not simply “Southampton port.”
Southampton Central has step-free station access and ABP terminals provide passenger facilities, but streets, dock gates, luggage drop, gangway and ship assistance remain separate. Two suitcases usually make the £8–£15 planned station taxi preferable to a 25–30-minute walk. Confirm wheelchair-accessible taxi availability in advance.
Work backward from all-aboard, including terminal security. Recheck the terminal assignment: City and Horizon are adjacent western-dock cases but are still different buildings.
