Passenger Terminal Amsterdam: city-centre route
Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) is at Piet Heinkade 27, beside the Mövenpick Hotel. From Amsterdam Centraal, leave on the north/IJ side, turn right and walk east for about 15 minutes. With bags, take tram 26 toward IJburg from the front-left side of Centraal and alight at the first stop, Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis; the terminal is beside the stop.
For the return, board tram 26 at Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis showing Centraal Station, or retrace the level waterfront walk. A 2026 GVB one-hour ticket is €3.40; OVpay instead charges the €1.16 base plus distance. Tap in and out with the same contactless card/device. The terminal operator’s taxi figures—€7.50–€12.50 to Centraal and €40–€60 to Schiphol—are indicative, not fixed fares; confirm the meter/quote before travel.
At the Terminal
IJmuiden: use the cruise terminal, not the ferry terminal
The current operator identifies Felison Cruise Terminal, Cruiseboulevard 10, at Monnickendam/Volendam Quay as the cruise facility. Felison Ferry Terminal, Sluisplein 55, serves the Newcastle ferry and is not interchangeable. If a cruise line supplies a different reporting address, its sailing document controls.
- From Cruiseboulevard 10, use the mapped pedestrian route to IJmuiden, Badweg. It is a planning estimate of roughly 1.3 km/15–20 minutes; the gangway-to-public-road portion can vary.
- Take bus 382 toward Amsterdam Station Sloterdijk and alight at the terminus. Published 2026 timetable examples take about 44–46 minutes.
- At Sloterdijk, take an NS train whose stop list includes Amsterdam Centraal; alight there.
For one no-transfer Connexxion ride, the onboard Haarlem-IJmond regional ticket is €6.75, card-only and invalid after you leave the bus. OVpay is distance-priced: tap in and out with the same card/device. The NS train is a separate fare/transport operator, so check out from the bus and into rail. Allow 75–105 minutes terminal-to-Centraal including the mapped walk, normal waits and transfer.

Your Situation
Schiphol Airport in both directions
PTA ↔ Schiphol
From PTA, walk or take tram 26 to Amsterdam Centraal, then take an NS train showing Schiphol Airport in its stop list and alight beneath the terminal. Reverse the steps from Schiphol: train to Amsterdam Centraal, then tram 26 toward IJburg to Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis or walk. NS publishes a 17-minute Centraal–Schiphol ride; allow 35–55 minutes terminal-to-airport with the first mile and a normal wait. Use the current NS planner fare; the published €40–€60 PTA taxi range is indicative.
IJmuiden cruise terminal ↔ Schiphol
From Cruiseboulevard 10, walk to Badweg, take bus 382 toward Station Sloterdijk, then take an NS train whose stop list includes Schiphol Airport. From the airport, take an NS train to Amsterdam Sloterdijk, transfer to bus 382 toward IJmuiden aan Zee, alight Badweg and complete the mapped walk to Cruiseboulevard 10. Allow 75–110 minutes including walking, normal waits, transfer and rides. Train, bus and any taxi are separate costs.

Getting There
Tickets, payment and useful passes
OVpay works on Dutch bus, tram and train services: use one contactless card/device per passenger and always tap out before changing operator. With a disposable or app ticket, follow that product’s validation rules.
- GVB only: 2026 one-hour ticket €3.40; day ticket €10. It covers Amsterdam GVB services, not ordinary Connexxion 382 or NS rail.
- Bus 382: €6.75 onboard regional single, card-only, one continuous ride with no transfer; or use distance-priced OVpay.
- Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket: €23 for one day in 2026 and designed for wider regional travel. Confirm the current map includes every IJmuiden service before buying; do not assume the cheaper Amsterdam Travel Ticket covers bus 382.
Port Day
A practical port day from either location
From PTA: central Amsterdam starts at the terminal. Walk 15 minutes to Centraal, or take tram 26 one stop; from Centraal, Dam Square is roughly another 10-minute walk. Return east along Piet Heinkade or use tram 26 toward IJburg and alight Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis.
From IJmuiden: choose either the coast or Amsterdam, not both by assumption. For central Amsterdam, complete the Badweg–382–Sloterdijk–NS chain and preserve the same transfer time on return. A taxi/app ride removes the transfers but live pickup, fare and traffic remain quote-only; enter Cruiseboulevard 10, IJmuiden, not “Amsterdam cruise port.”
Accessibility
Return to ship, luggage and accessibility
- City → PTA: tram 26 toward IJburg to Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis, or walk east from Centraal to Piet Heinkade 27.
- Amsterdam → IJmuiden: NS train to Sloterdijk; bus 382 toward IJmuiden aan Zee; alight Badweg; walk to Cruiseboulevard 10.
- Schiphol → IJmuiden: NS to Sloterdijk, then the same 382 and walk.
PTA’s short first mile is easier with luggage. IJmuiden requires an outdoor dike-area walk plus an operator change; two suitcases may justify a prebooked taxi. Low-floor vehicles, station lifts and terminal assistance do not prove the whole gangway-to-platform route is step-free. Request ship/terminal help in advance and identify every mobility aid.
Build the return from the cruise line’s all-aboard time. At Amsterdam Sloterdijk, board bus 382 toward IJmuiden aan Zee, alight at Badweg, then follow the mapped walk to Felison Cruise Terminal, Cruiseboulevard 10. Do not substitute the Sluisplein ferry terminal.
What to Confirm
What remains terminal- and sailing-specific
- Exact berth-to-public-road path at IJmuiden and any ship shuttle.
- Live bus 382, NS and tram departure; current distance-priced OVpay total.
- Whether a sailing document names a location other than Cruiseboulevard 10.
- Taxi/app pickup pin, queue and live fare. Terminal-operator taxi figures are indicative.
PTA address/directions, Felison terminal identity, 382 stops/direction, 2026 GVB and Connexxion fares, payment rules and airport rail facts were checked 9 September 2026. Total times and the terminal–Badweg walk are clearly labelled planning estimates.
