Venice uses a distributed cruise-port system. Your ship’s berth and your passenger check-in location may be different. For Marghera Liguria/Lombardia sailings, passengers normally process at Marittima and then use a dedicated shuttle to the ship. Fusina instructions must be checked for the specific sailing.

Getting There

The train-station route is possible, but the bridge matters

From Venezia Santa Lucia, many able-bodied passengers with manageable rolling luggage can reach Piazzale Roma and continue by People Mover toward Marittima. The route crosses Ponte della Costituzione, whose principal pedestrian deck has extensive steps.

Airport transfer: confirm the processing terminal first

For a Marghera sailing that processes at Marittima, Venice Marco Polo Airport publishes a fixed taxi fare to the cruise terminal. Public buses can reach Piazzale Roma, after which the Marittima segment is separate.

Fusina: your sailing instructions outrank generic port advice

Fusina is an active cruise facility, but current VTP pages conflict over whether embarkation/disembarkation is handled directly at Fusina or through Marittima. The correct procedure may depend on the sailing and operating setup.

Do not treat Venice’s rail-to-cruise route as continuously step-free

The principal Santa Lucia-to-Piazzale Roma walking route crosses the stepped Constitution Bridge. VTP provides PRM assistance within its facilities, but that does not establish a continuously step-free journey from rail station, airport or city accommodation to the ship.
