Stazione Marittima: confirm the berth
The central passenger terminal is Stazione Marittima, Molo Bersaglieri 3. The port authority describes it as a few hundred metres from Piazza Unità d’Italia. Follow ship/terminal signs to the public pavement before starting a route.
This guide does not treat every “Trieste” call as Molo Bersaglieri 3. If the cruise line names another berth or a shuttle, use that instruction and do not substitute the central-terminal walk.
Getting There
Trieste Centrale to the terminal
Walk
Exit Trieste Centrale toward Piazza della Libertà, continue south along the waterfront/Rive and follow signs for Piazza Unità and Molo Bersaglieri. The official city walking material gives about 20 minutes; the mapped route is roughly 1.4 km, mostly level but exposed to weather and awkward with bags.
Taxi
Use the station taxi rank and ask for Stazione Marittima, Molo Bersaglieri 3. The ride is normally only a few minutes, but traffic and queueing matter; the meter and posted supplements control. No unsupported fixed station-terminal price is claimed.
Local bus
Official tourism material identifies buses 8 and 30 from the station area with about a five-minute ride to the maritime-terminal area. Confirm the correct direction and nearest stop in the live TPL FVG planner before boarding; for two suitcases, walking or taxi is often clearer.
Your Situation
Trieste Airport to the cruise terminal
Airport → cruise terminal
- Follow the covered airport connection to Trieste Airport railway station.
- Buy a Regional ticket to Trieste Centrale in the Trenitalia app/site or at a station machine. If using a paper regional ticket, validate it when the ticket’s conditions require.
- Ride a direct train, about 30 minutes according to the airport.
- At Trieste Centrale, walk about 20 minutes/1.4 km to Molo Bersaglieri 3 or use the taxi rank.
Fare: current booking results checked 8 September 2026 showed about €4.75 one way. Treat that as a dated fare; Trenitalia’s displayed fare at purchase controls. Plan about 55–75 minutes total including the connection, a normal wait and the final walk; a taxi final leg reduces luggage handling.
Ending your cruise: terminal → airport
- From Molo Bersaglieri 3, walk about 20 minutes/1.4 km north along the Rive to Trieste Centrale, or use the terminal/station taxi rank.
- Buy a Trenitalia Regional ticket to Trieste Airport. Board only a departure whose calling points include Trieste Airport; the train’s final destination varies.
- Alight at Trieste Airport and follow the covered pedestrian connection to the passenger terminal.
Check the official planner for the departure you can safely make and add airline check-in/security time.
Direct taxi
Airport taxis wait outside Arrivals, normally 08:00–24:00. A Municipality of Trieste tariff document published in 2022 lists a fixed airport trip of €59.45 including supplements, but its continued 2026 applicability was not established from a newer municipal fare sheet. Ask the dispatcher/driver to confirm the current fixed fare before travel; otherwise the posted tariff controls.
Port Day
Short city visit and return
From the public terminal exit, walk north along the waterfront to Piazza Unità d’Italia, only a few hundred metres/about 3–5 minutes. The Rive promenade is the simplest orientation line; the historic-centre lanes behind the square can be uneven.
- Save Molo Bersaglieri 3 and the ship’s all-aboard time.
- Keep the sea/waterfront as your return reference.
- Return to the signed Stazione Marittima entrance, allowing time for security and the gangway—not merely to Piazza Unità.
Accessibility
Luggage and mobility
- With two suitcases, use a taxi for the 1.4 km station-terminal segment even though it is walkable.
- The central waterfront route is mostly level; kerbs, weather and historic paving still matter.
- The Stazione Marittima venue lists ramps and a lift, but this does not certify the ship gangway or every route segment.
- Arrange cruise-line assistance for the gangway and prebook an accessible taxi if needed.
What to Confirm
What to recheck
- Confirm that the sailing really uses Stazione Marittima at Molo Bersaglieri 3.
- The €4.75 rail fare is a dated booking result; recheck at purchase.
- The €59.45 airport taxi figure comes from a 2022 official tariff whose current status could not be independently confirmed.
- Train frequency and engineering changes are date-specific. No taxi or bus is assumed to reach the gangway.
