Cruise Port Logistics Guide
La Spezia Cruise Port
Gateway for La Spezia, Italy
Complete the mandatory pier-to-terminal movement, then choose a waterfront walk, the practical Centrale connection, a dated Cinque Terre ticket or the Pisa Airport chain in either direction.
La Spezia transport at a glance
First complete the controlled Garibaldi Pier–Largo Fiorillo shuttle. From the landside terminal, central La Spezia is close and Centrale is a separate 1.6 km walk or taxi.

Your Situation
From the ship to city and station
For a normal Garibaldi Pier call, passengers use the port shuttle between the ship area and Cruise Terminal 2, Largo Michele Fiorillo. Do not walk the controlled pier road. The operator’s tariff makes the shuttle a required ship service; it does not publish a separate passenger fare.
From Largo Fiorillo, the waterfront and central grid begin immediately. For La Spezia Centrale, the practical choices are:
- Walk: about 1.6 km/20–25 minutes via the central pedestrian streets. This is a mapped planning estimate; summer heat and bags add effort.
- Taxi: use the terminal rank/authorized pickup. Allow about 10–20 minutes with traffic; no official fixed fare was found, so ask for the metered/quoted basis.

Port Day
Cinque Terre by train: choose the right ticket
- Take the port shuttle to Largo Fiorillo, then walk or taxi to La Spezia Centrale.
- Check the departure board and take a regional train whose stop list includes your chosen village. For the shortest first hop, use Riomaggiore; trains may display a farther destination.
- For return, board toward La Spezia Centrale and alight there. Then walk/taxi to Largo Fiorillo and take the ship shuttle.
From 14 March–1 November 2026, a single direct Cinque Terre trip costs €5 (band A), €8 (B) or €10 (C) and is valid 75 minutes on one direct journey when validation is required. A one-day adult Cinque Terre Train MS Card costs €22/€29.50/€35 by day band and is valid until midnight; it makes sense for multiple village rides, not automatically for one return.
Allow roughly 45–75 minutes terminal-to-Riomaggiore including the station walk, normal wait and short rail ride. Later villages take longer. Crowding can prevent boarding the first train, so turn back with more than one workable service before all-aboard.

Getting There
Ticket purchase, payment and restrictions
Buy the dated train ticket or Train Card through Trenitalia, a station ticket machine/office, or an authorized Cinque Terre Park infopoint. The Train Card is named, non-transferable and non-refundable; carry ID. Validate a paper ticket/card when its conditions require it and retain it through exit.
The ATC city-bus ticket is €1.50 for 60 minutes in La Spezia, sold through authorized outlets, DropTicket or eligible Italian-SIM SMS; it must be activated/validated at the start. Onboard sales are restricted by time/area and cost more. Because no current official single-seat bus from Largo Fiorillo to Centrale was established end to end, the guide does not invent one; use the walk, taxi or current ATC planner.
Your Situation
Pisa Airport in both directions
Ship → Pisa Airport
- Take the port shuttle to Largo Fiorillo; walk/taxi to La Spezia Centrale.
- Take a Trenitalia regional service whose stop list includes Pisa Centrale; some journeys require a change, so follow the dated itinerary.
- At Pisa Centrale follow signs beside platform 14 to PisaMover. Ride toward Aeroporto and alight beside Gate B/City Gate.
Airport → ship
- Take PisaMover from the airport beside Gate B to FS/Pisa Centrale.
- Take the booked regional train itinerary to La Spezia Centrale.
- Walk/taxi to Largo Fiorillo, check in if embarking, then use the controlled port shuttle to the ship.
PisaMover publishes about 5 minutes, daily 06:00–24:00 (to 01:00 June–September), and charges €6.50 for a single or €13 return. Those are PisaMover fares only: the Trenitalia ticket and any taxi charge between Largo Fiorillo and La Spezia Centrale are separate; the controlled port shuttle has no separately published passenger fare. Allow 1¾–2¾ hours terminal–airport for the city leg, normal rail/shuttle waits, ride and transfer, before airline processing.

Key Decision
Anchorage and construction exceptions
Selected very large 2026 ships have used anchorage/tender arrangements during Calata Paita construction. A tender call can land through a different reception process involving Molo Italia/Molo Garibaldi rather than the ordinary ship-bus sequence.
The permanent future pier/terminal must not be used as today’s passenger route until commissioned. The cruise line’s same-day tender ticket, onboard announcement and SCCT cruise calendar override the normal Garibaldi Pier instructions.
Accessibility
Return to ship, bags and accessibility
- From Cinque Terre: train toward La Spezia Centrale; walk/taxi to Largo Fiorillo; take the controlled shuttle to the ship.
- From Pisa Airport: PisaMover to Pisa Centrale; rail to La Spezia Centrale; walk/taxi to the terminal; port shuttle.
- From central La Spezia: return to Largo Michele Fiorillo, not directly to Garibaldi Pier.
SCCT states the terminal, information points and toilets are accessible and its collective/dedicated port vehicles can have retractable platforms; request assistance in advance. This does not certify the city walk, every rail platform, a tender, or the gangway. With suitcases, taxi for the 1.6 km station leg reduces effort.
What to Confirm
What to recheck before leaving
- Berth versus tender/anchorage and the actual landside return point.
- Day band A/B/C before buying a Cinque Terre ticket or Train Card.
- Live train platform, dated rail fare, crowding and more than one safe return service.
- Taxi quote for the station leg; reconfirm the published PisaMover €6.50 single / €13 return fare before travel.
