Cruise Port Logistics Guide
Marseille Cruise Port
Gateway for Marseille, France
Use the route for MPCT Gate 4 or central J4, with the port shuttle, 35T, Metro and airport coach kept distinct.
Marseille transport at a glance
Marseille has two different cruise areas. MPCT at Gate 4 needs a port shuttle or bus 35T; J4 calls are already near the centre.
MPCT Gate 4
Free port shuttle to Joliette
€0 · allow 25–60 min
Ship-call days, generally 09:00–17:00 about every 30 min; terminal walk varies.
Public fallback
Bus 35T to Joliette
€1.70 prepaid/contactless or €2 onboard
Cruise-call days; after boarding, some terminals still require a 600 m–2.5 km walk.
Airport
Port service + Metro + A1
€10.90 combined ticket where available · 80–140 min
Change at Joliette and Saint-Charles; waiting and terminal walking are included.

Confirm MPCT Gate 4 or J4
Save the exact public entrance and ship name. At MPCT follow the marked pedestrian route inside the controlled area; the official visitor information says the walk can range from about 600 m to 2.5 km depending on terminal.
Getting There
MPCT or J4 to central Marseille
MPCT free port shuttle
- Follow the green pedestrian line for roughly 5–12 minutes to the marked Gate 4 shuttle stop.
- On cruise arrival/departure days, take the free Grand Port shuttle to Joliette. Published visitor hours are generally 09:00–17:00, about every 30 minutes; the ship-day operation controls.
- At Joliette, walk about 25 minutes to Vieux-Port, or take Metro M2 toward Sainte-Marguerite Dromel to Saint-Charles. Change there to M1 toward La Fourragère and alight at Vieux-Port.
RTM public bus 35T
On cruise-call days, 35T links Terminal Croisières and Joliette. Pay €1.70 with a loaded ticket/contactless bank card or €2 onboard. It is a public bus, not the free port shuttle.
J4
Walk roughly 15–25 minutes along the waterfront toward Vieux-Port, or use a live RTM route from the nearest legal stop.
Getting There
Where to board for the return
Vieux-Port → Joliette → MPCT
From Vieux-Port, take M1 toward La Rose to Saint-Charles. Change to M2 toward Gèze and alight at Joliette.
For the free shuttle, use the official pickup at 9 Quai du Lazaret, between Les Terrasses du Port and the maritime station: pass Five Guys, enter the small marked gate and show your cruise ticket. For 35T, use its signed Joliette stop and board toward Terminal Croisières.
At the port, follow signs to the correct ship/terminal and allow for the published 600 m–2.5 km internal walk, security and all-aboard time. Do not wait until the last advertised shuttle.
J4 return
Retrace the waterfront to the saved J4 entrance. A Gate 4 shuttle is not required for a J4 ship.
Your Situation
Marseille Airport in both directions
Airport → MPCT
- Board airport coach A1 to Marseille Saint-Charles. The current fare is €10 one way; a combined A1+RTM ticket is €10.90 where sold. Buy online, at the desk or onboard by cash/card.
- At Saint-Charles take Metro M2 toward Gèze; alight at Joliette.
- Use the free port shuttle from 9 Quai du Lazaret when operating, or 35T toward Terminal Croisières. Walk inside Gate 4 to the assigned terminal.
A1’s official normal-traffic ride is 30–50 minutes. Allow roughly 80–140 minutes total for coach/Metro/port-service waits, transfers and the terminal walk.
Ending your cruise: MPCT → airport
Take the free shuttle or 35T to Joliette; M2 toward Sainte-Marguerite Dromel to Saint-Charles; then A1 toward Marseille Provence Airport. Preserve airline check-in time beyond the 80–140 minute transport allowance.
J4: walk/use RTM to Joliette or Saint-Charles, then A1. A licensed taxi is the lowest-handling choice; no fixed MPCT–airport fare was verified, so use the meter/current quote.

Accessibility
Tickets, luggage and mobility
- RTM contactless validates a €1.70 one-hour journey; use one payment medium per passenger and validate as instructed.
- A1 is designed for airport luggage. The Metro and the long MPCT terminal approach add handling.
- The free port shuttle and 35T are separate services with different stops, payment and operating conditions.
- Ask the cruise line about an accessible port transfer. A terminal being accessible does not prove a step-free gangway-to-stop path.
What to Confirm
What to recheck
- MPCT versus J4 and the exact MPCT internal walking distance.
- Free-shuttle/35T operation on the ship date; both are tied to cruise calls.
- RTM and A1 service alerts and current displayed fares.
- Traffic and taxi meter/quote. No fixed direct MPCT–airport price is claimed.
