Naples Cruise Port

Gateway for Naples, Italy

Start at Naples Stazione Marittima, then choose a practical city, airport or Pompeii route with the correct stations and return margin.

Start at Stazione Marittima—not a ferry terminal

Most large cruise calls use Stazione Marittima / Molo Angioino beside Molo Beverello and Piazza Municipio. Other ferry facilities—such as Calata Porta di Massa—are not interchangeable starting points.

  1. Follow the controlled terminal route to the public exit.
  2. Save “Stazione Marittima, Molo Angioino” and the ship/all-aboard time.
  3. Use Municipio Metro as the central rail anchor, about 400–600 m/5–10 minutes from the terminal exit.

Getting There

Central Naples from the cruise terminal

Walk

Piazza Municipio and Castel Nuovo are just beyond the port exit. Via Toledo is roughly 1 km/12–18 minutes; the lower historic-centre edge is about 1.5–2 km/20–30 minutes, depending on destination. Expect kerbs, crowds and uneven paving.

Metro Line 1

Walk to Municipio. For Toledo/Spanish Quarter take Line 1 toward Piscinola and alight at Toledo; for the central station take it toward Centro Direzionale and alight at Garibaldi. Check platform displays because works can alter service.

ANM single fares vary by ticket type; a typical urban single was about €1.50–€1.80 when checked. Buy at a machine/authorized seller or use ANM-supported contactless gates, tapping as instructed. The fare displayed at purchase controls.

Your Situation

Naples Airport in both directions

Airport → cruise terminal

  1. Outside Arrivals, follow signs to Alibus.
  2. Buy the €5 single-ride ticket at the Arrivals machine, online/app, an authorized seller or onboard without surcharge.
  3. Board toward the city. The official stop sequence is Airport → Piazza Garibaldi → Port (Molo Beverello/Angioino, Stazione Marittima); stay aboard to the port terminus.
  4. Walk from the stop into the signed cruise terminal/control area.

Ending your cruise: port → airport

  1. Exit to the landside Alibus port terminus at Molo Angioino/Beverello beside Stazione Marittima.
  2. Board Alibus toward Aeroporto Capodichino. Some journeys call at Immacolatella/Porta di Massa, Varco Pisacane and Piazza Garibaldi before the airport.
  3. Alight at the airport and follow terminal signs.

Planning time: allow about 35–60 minutes for normal waiting and the traffic-dependent ride, plus flight check-in/security. ANM publishes service roughly every 10–15 minutes, but road disruption can dominate.

A licensed taxi is the least-handling alternative. Naples has official fixed routes, but verify the current posted municipal sheet and all-inclusive conditions at the rank; no unverified static airport-port figure is used here.

Your Situation

Pompeii: the correct stations

Use EAV Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri for the Porta Marina entrance. Trenitalia’s station named “Pompei” is on a different line by the modern town and is not the same station.

  1. Walk 400–600 m/5–10 min from Stazione Marittima to Municipio.
  2. Take Metro Line 1 toward Centro Direzionale to Garibaldi, about 10 minutes riding.
  3. Follow signs within the station complex to the underground EAV Napoli Piazza Garibaldi platforms; allow 10–15 minutes for the transfer.
  4. Board an EAV Circumvesuviana train shown toward Sorrento and confirm that it stops at Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri. Do not board solely because a display says Pompeii.
  5. Alight at Pompei Scavi; the Porta Marina entrance is roughly 200–300 m/3–5 minutes away.

Planning time: about 75–100 minutes each way, including port/station walks, Line 1, transfer, a normal EAV wait and roughly 35–40 minutes on the Sorrento line. Service disruption is extra.

Fare: buy separate valid ANM and EAV/UnicoCampania tickets. Because zonal fares and ticket products change, use the fare shown by the official app/machine for Napoli Piazza Garibaldi → Pompei Scavi; do not reuse the fare for Trenitalia Pompei. EAV states that Campania Express will be suspended from 1 October 2026 until further notice. Do not plan on that reserved service after 30 September unless EAV publishes a resumption.

Port Day

Pompeii return and ship deadline

  1. At Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri, board an EAV train whose display/calling points show Napoli; alight at Napoli Piazza Garibaldi.
  2. Follow signs to Metro Line 1 at Garibaldi and ride toward Piscinola; alight at Municipio.
  3. Walk 400–600 m back to Stazione Marittima and allow cruise security/gangway time.

Pompeii is not a casual half-day if the ship leaves early. Work backward from all-aboard, allowing the complete 75–100 minute return, a missed/cancelled EAV train contingency and at least the buffer recommended by your cruise line. Check EAV disruption notices before entering the site.

Accessibility

Luggage and mobility

  • Alibus is the simplest public option with suitcases because it serves the port directly.
  • Pompeii via Garibaldi includes long station corridors and platform changes. EAV states Napoli Garibaldi is not accessible for its Campania Express mobility route; passengers needing step-free assistance should check current EAV instructions or use Napoli Porta Nolana/a prearranged accessible transfer.
  • Historic streets and Pompeii have uneven stone and exposed walking.
  • Ask the cruise line about gangway assistance; terminal accessibility does not certify the gangway.

What to Confirm

What to recheck

  • The assigned Naples facility and controlled exit.
  • ANM/EAV service notices, displayed fares and the exact Sorrento-line train calling at Pompei Scavi.
  • Pompeii opening/entry rules and the time needed for the archaeological site.
  • Taxi tariffs and traffic; use the current official sheet or live meter, not an old blog price.
