At the Terminal
Warnemünde berths: town, station and beach
Rostock Port places P1–P4, P7 and P8 in Warnemünde. The port publishes roughly 500 m/5 minutes from Warnemünde station to the cruise terminal; allow 5–10 minutes for the actual public exit and luggage. The old town and Alter Strom begin around the station/terminal area; the beach/lighthouse is a longer level town walk.
For rail, follow signs to Warnemünde Bahnhof. To return, alight Warnemünde and use the saved berth/public-exit route. Do not follow these directions for LP31 or LP41.

Port Day
Warnemünde to Rostock city, end to end
- At Warnemünde, board an S-Bahn toward Rostock Hauptbahnhof; alight at Hauptbahnhof.
- Follow signs to the tram stop and take tram 5 toward Mecklenburger Allee.
- Alight at Neuer Markt for the old-town centre.
For return, board tram 5 at Neuer Markt toward Südblick, alight Hauptbahnhof, then take an S-Bahn toward Warnemünde and alight at the terminus. Works in central Rostock can temporarily divert trams, so follow the live VVW itinerary if line 5 is altered.
A Rostock-zone adult single is €3.20 and a day ticket is €6; one VVW ticket covers S-Bahn, tram and bus within its validity. Allow 40–65 minutes terminal-to-Neuer Markt including the 5–10-minute walk, normal waits, roughly 20–25-minute S-Bahn ride and tram transfer.

Getting There
LP31 and LP41: Rostock seaport chain
LP31 and LP41 are at Rostock seaport, not Warnemünde passenger quay. Rostock Port’s public chain uses the seaport bus connection and S-Bahn at Lütten Klein.
Seaport → Rostock city
- Follow terminal staff directions to the public stop Seehafen Fähre. The exact controlled berth-to-stop path is not published for every call; use a port shuttle/taxi if staff do not authorize the walk.
- Take bus 45 or 49 toward Lütten Klein Zentrum and alight at S Lütten Klein.
- Take S-Bahn toward Rostock Hauptbahnhof, alight there, then tram 5 toward Mecklenburger Allee to Neuer Markt.
City → seaport
Return to Rostock Hbf, take S-Bahn toward Warnemünde to Lütten Klein, then bus 45 toward Weidendamm or 49 toward Dierkower Kreuz. Alight Seehafen Fähre and follow the saved port instructions.
Allow 55–90 minutes berth-area-to-city with the call-specific first mile, normal waits and two transfers. A Rostock-zone ticket covers the chain. With suitcases, use a licensed taxi to the exact LP berth/terminal.

Your Situation
Hamburg Airport and long-distance arrivals
Hamburg Airport → Warnemünde
- Take Hamburg S1 toward Wedel/Blankenese. At Ohlsdorf, airport trains join another section; airport-bound riders use the front three carriages on the reverse journey.
- Alight Hamburg Hbf and take the booked DB regional/intercity itinerary to Rostock Hbf.
- Take S-Bahn toward Warnemünde and alight at Warnemünde.
Warnemünde → Hamburg Airport
S-Bahn to Rostock Hbf; booked DB train to Hamburg Hbf; then S1 toward Hamburg Airport/Poppenbüttel. Sit in the front three carriages: the train divides at Ohlsdorf and only that section continues to the airport.
Allow roughly 3–4 hours including transfers and normal waits, before airline processing. Buy the exact DB itinerary; if it does not include Rostock local transit, add the €3.20 VVW single. For LP31/41, add the bus 45/49–Lütten Klein chain or taxi.
Rostock-Laage Airport is closer by road, but no dependable scheduled cruise-passenger public connection was established; prebook a taxi/transfer and confirm the fare.
Accessibility
Tickets, luggage storage and accessibility
Buy VVW tickets from machines, service points or supported mobile channels before travel and validate when the medium requires it. The Rostock single/day ticket covers regional train, S-Bahn, tram, bus and Warnow ferries in the Rostock tariff zone; long-distance DB trains require the booked DB ticket.
Rostock Port states that cruise terminals have no luggage storage. Warnemünde station has lockers/storage; confirm availability before relying on it. P7/P8 terminal buildings are ground-level with disabled facilities, but the gangway, 500 m station route and every other berth are not automatically step-free.
For LP31/41, the uncertain berth-to-Seehafen Fähre segment is the key mobility gap. Arrange port/cruise assistance or a wheelchair-accessible taxi rather than assuming the public path.
What to Confirm
Return to ship and sailing-day checks
- Rostock city → Warnemünde: tram 5 toward Südblick to Hauptbahnhof; S-Bahn toward Warnemünde; walk to the saved P-berth entrance.
- Rostock city → LP31/41: S-Bahn toward Warnemünde to Lütten Klein; bus 45 toward Weidendamm or 49 toward Dierkower Kreuz; alight Seehafen Fähre; follow saved port instructions.
- Airport/rail arrival: never stop at Rostock Hbf and assume the ship is nearby; complete the correct berth branch.
Before leaving, recheck the official cruise-call berth, live S-Bahn/tram/bus service, and more than one workable return. The exact LP berth-to-public-stop access and Rostock-Laage transfer remain genuine gaps; they are not invented here. Total ranges include the stated walking, normal waits and transfers, not port security or your all-aboard margin.
