Hernesaari: LHB, LHC and LHD

Start: LHB/LHC — Hernematalankatu 6. LHD — Hernesaarenranta 15. Leave through the signed public exit before following a map; temporary fencing can change that first segment.

Taxi or app ride to any hotel

  1. Enter the exact quay address and your hotel’s verified street address.
  2. Use the pickup assigned by the ride app or port staff; do not substitute Helsinki Airport pickup guidance.
  3. Check the live quote/ETA in the app or use Taksi Helsinki’s non-binding calculator estimate.

Effort: least luggage handling. Price/time: route- and traffic-dependent; the operator quote controls. Ordinary suitcases carry no Taksi Helsinki surcharge, but a harbour access charge may apply.

Public transport to Central Station

  1. From mapped LHB/LHC address Hernematalankatu 6, walk about 1.1 km/14 min to Eiranranta.
  2. Board tram 6 toward Arabia via Päärautatieasema.
  3. Ride seven stops/about 13 min; alight at Päärautatieasema, then walk about 60 m/under 1 min to the station.

Dated itinerary: about 28 min total. It comprised about 15 min walking and 13 min riding, with under a minute of scheduled waiting in the checked itinerary. It does not describe an arbitrary arrival at the stop. For LHD, first note the official address, number 15. If HSL resolves the example to nearby number 13, treat that as a mapped reference only and separately verify the path from the actual public exit.

Fare: adult AB €3.30 in the HSL app/on an HSL card/from a machine or sales point, or €3.50 contactless; valid 80 minutes. Have the app ticket before boarding or buy contactless at the tram reader.

Taxi: on 8 September 2026, Taksi Helsinki calculated €22.12, 10 min and 3.82 km from nearby mapped number 13. A practical €22–30 and 10–20 min allowance is an editorial planning buffer, not a quote. It does not verify the exact LHD exit or pickup.

Simpler tram: from mapped number 13, walk about 1.0 km/13 min to Eiranranta; take tram 6 toward Arabia for five stops/about 9 min; alight Erottaja; walk about 650 m/11 min. HSL’s total was about 33 min: 24 min walking + 9 min riding, with no separate wait shown in that timed result.

Less final walking: walk 1.0 km/13 min to Eiranranta; tram 6 toward Arabia to Ylioppilastalo; walk about 150 m/2 min to tram 2 toward Olympiaterminaali; alight Kauppatori; walk about 100 m/2 min. HSL’s total was about 35 min, including the transfer and roughly 3 min scheduled transfer wait; total walking was about 1.3 km/17 min.

Start: ERA is on Katajanokanranta; its nearest parking and transit reference is Katajanokka Terminal. EKL is at Katajanokan laituri 2. Neither is West Terminal 2.

Dated itinerary: about 9 min total from the terminal stop: 5 min riding + 4 min walking, with no wait because the checked itinerary began at departure. If you miss it, add the live wait. An all-walking route from the terminal mapped at about 1.0 km/13 min.

EKL → Market Square on foot

From mapped Katajanokanlaituri 2, HSL showed about 300 m/4 min walking. This excludes the unverified ship-to-public-exit segment. With manageable luggage, walking is simpler than boarding for this short leg.

For ERA, reverse the route: from Ritarihuone use tram 5 toward Katajanokan terminaali, then follow signs to the saved quay. For EKL, reverse the 300 m mapped walk to Katajanokanlaituri 2. Recheck the live departure and leave time for port security and the ship’s all-aboard deadline.

  1. Identify the quay: use the official ship schedule if the berth code is missing.
  2. Choose the first mile: from Hernesaari use the tram/taxi instructions above; from Katajanokka, Market Square is the simplest city starting point.
  3. Set the turnaround: subtract both travel legs, walking, a live wait allowance, port security and your own margin from the cruise line’s all-aboard time.
  4. Return to the exact berth: do not navigate only to “Helsinki cruise port.” Keep the code and street address available offline.

Walking burden: the mapped Katajanokka examples are about 300 m/4 min from EKL’s street address or 1.0 km/13 min from Katajanokka Terminal to Market Square. Hernesaari-to-Central-Station walking alone mapped at 3.4 km/46 min, so transit or a ride is usually more practical there.

An adult ABC single ticket is €4.50 in the HSL app/on an HSL card/from a machine or sales point, or €4.80 contactless; valid 90 minutes. From Central Station, HSL states about 27 min on I or 32 min on P. The airport station has lifts and escalators.

  • Two suitcases: taxi/app ride minimizes handling. Hernesaari transit examples begin with about a kilometre of walking.
  • Ship to public exit: ask the cruise line about gangway help and any call-specific shuttle; neither is assumed here.
  • Trams: HSL trams are low-floor or partly low-floor, but the quay surface, stop approach, crowding and vehicle gap still matter.
  • On board: regular luggage is free when space permits. Wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs travel free; mobility scooters are not allowed on trams or buses.
  • Taxi: prebook an accessible vehicle and describe the passenger’s transfer needs and every mobility aid.
  • Airport: the airport station has lifts and escalators; the Central Station transfer and quay first mile still require individual assessment.

  • The exact ship-to-public-exit paths and temporary fencing at the international quays were not verified.
  • HSL and Taksi Helsinki resolve nearby Hernesaarenranta 13 rather than official LHD address number 15; the Hotel Haven estimates therefore do not establish the exact LHD-exit route.
  • Taxi planning buffers are editorial estimates; operator quotes and metered outcomes can differ. Uber fares, ETAs and assigned pickups are available only in its app.
  • Published tram labels and departures can change. Follow the live HSL itinerary and stop display for the travel time you actually choose.
