Stadsgården and Skeppsbron

Stadsgården 160/167: use the signed pedestrian gate. The official quay map gives about 1 km/10 minutes to the city; allow 10–30 minutes to Slussen/Gamla Stan depending on berth, controlled exit and pace. Skeppsbron 105 is already on the Old Town waterfront.

For Centralstationen from Slussen, take a northbound red or green Metro train and alight at T-Centralen; the 43 SEK SL ticket covers the trip. With suitcases, uneven waterfront paving and the Metro–rail-station connector add effort.

Getting There

Frihamnen to the city

  1. From the Frihamnen cruise terminal public exit, walk roughly 350–700 m/5–10 minutes to the signed Frihamnen bus stop; the exact berth can change the distance.
  2. Board bus 1 toward Stora Essingen.
  3. Alight at Cityterminalen (på Kungsbron)—not at a stop named Centralstationen.
  4. Follow the signed indoor connection by escalator or lift from Cityterminalen to Stockholm Central, Stockholm City or T-Centralen, as needed.

Allow 35–55 minutes total including terminal walking, a normal wait, the traffic-dependent bus ride and the station connection. This is a planning estimate. A 75-minute SL single costs 43 SEK; tap one contactless card/device per passenger or activate an SL app ticket before boarding. Cash is not accepted.

Scenic alternative: SL commuter ferry 80 toward Nybroplan serves Frihamnen. It uses the same SL ticket but can involve a longer wait and a variable ramp angle; check the live departure before choosing it with luggage.

Getting There

Arlanda Airport in both directions

Fast rail via Stockholm Central

Arlanda Express runs from Stockholm Central platforms 1–2 to Arlanda South (Terminals 2–4) in 18 minutes and Arlanda North (Terminal 5) one minute later. The current adult fare is 340 SEK one way; it is a separate ticket from SL.

  • Frihamnen → airport: take bus 1 toward Stora Essingen, alight at Cityterminalen (på Kungsbron), then follow the signed indoor connection into Stockholm Central and continue to Arlanda Express platforms 1–2. Allow 55–85 minutes total including terminal walk, normal waits, station connection, bus and rail.
  • Stadsgården → airport: walk to Slussen, Metro northbound to T-Centralen, follow station signs, then Arlanda Express. Allow 50–80 minutes total.
  • Airport → Frihamnen: at Stockholm Central follow signs to Cityterminalen/Kungsbron. Board bus 1 at Cityterminalen (på Kungsbron), platform S, with Frihamnen on the display; alight at Frihamnen and retrace the saved terminal walk.
  • Airport → Stadsgården: follow signs to T-Centralen, take the Metro to Slussen, then walk to the saved gate.

Lower-cost all-SL commuter option

Line 40 serves Arlanda Central via Stockholm City. A single including the Arlanda passage is 200 SEK and valid for two hours; the airport–Stockholm Central ride is about 38 minutes. Add the same berth connector and allow roughly 75–110 minutes total. Do not use a plain 43 SEK ticket through the Arlanda gates: adults need the airport passage.

Key Decision

Nynäshamn is a separate port journey

Ports of Stockholm places Nynäshamn about 60 km south of Stockholm. A Seawalk call adds a 260 m floating pier before the landside route; tender arrangements can differ.

  1. Follow the marked cruise exit and walk to Nynäshamn station. Allow roughly 15–25 minutes from the landside end of the Seawalk; this walking estimate depends on the actual gate.
  2. Take SL commuter line 43 toward Bålsta or Kungsängen. Confirm Stockholm City appears in the stopping pattern.
  3. Alight at Stockholm City beneath T-Centralen.

Allow 80–110 minutes total for the Seawalk/exit, station walk, a normal wait and the roughly one-hour rail journey. Fare: 43 SEK; make the final interchange within the ticket’s 75-minute validity if continuing on SL.

For Arlanda, change at Stockholm City to Arlanda Express (separate ticket) or to SL line 40 with the airport passage. Allow roughly 2–2½ hours port-to-airport before airline check-in/security. Reverse at the airport, then take line 43 with Nynäshamn on the display and walk back to the ship gate.

Accessibility

Tickets, luggage and accessibility

  • The 43 SEK SL single is valid for 75 minutes with unlimited SL travel; make the final change before expiry. Buy in the SL app, tap a contactless card/device, or use staffed sales points. There is no cash purchase onboard.
  • Use one payment card/device per passenger. Tap in at gates/readers; SL does not normally require tap-out.
  • Arlanda Express has large luggage racks and accessible spaces. SL ferries use gangways whose slope varies with water level and vessel.
  • Nynäshamn’s Seawalk and every cruise gangway are separate from public-transport accessibility. Request ship/port assistance when needed.

  • Nynäshamn: line 43/43X toward Nynäshamn, then the saved port walk/Seawalk route. Leave a large buffer for the infrequent outer section.
